La fiorente cittadina di Vitré, situata all’estremità orientale di quello che alla fine del Quattrocento era ancora il Ducato indipendente di Bretagna, diede i natali ad uno dei più importanti compositori attivi in Italia nel primo Cinquecento: Jacquet de Mantuoe (1483-1559).
Il concerto dell’Ensemble Arco Antiqua indagherà la sua produzione che partendo dai modelli compositivi del fiammingo J. Desprez (1450 ca.- 1521) arrivò a diventare essa stessa modello per musicisti del calibro di G. P. da Palestrina (1525 ca.-1594). Verranno presentati i brani più significativi dell’autore arrangiati per liuto e canto, basandosi su intavolature d’epoca come quelle del liutista tirolese Simon Gintzler (1490-1550), attivo presso la corte del Principe Vescovo di Trento Cristoforo Madruzzo (1512-1578).
The thriving town of Vitré, located at the eastern end of what was still the indipendent Duchy of Brittany at the end of the fifteen century, was the birthplace of one of the most important composers active in Italy in the early sixteenth century: Jacquet de Mantoue (1483-1559).
The concert by Ensemble Arco Antiqua will investigate its production starting from the compositional models of the flemish artist J. Desprez (1450 c.-1521) to become a model for musicians of the calibre of G.P. da Palestrina (1524 c. - 1594). The author’s most significant pieces will be presented arranged for lute and ‘cantus’, based on historical tablature such as those of the Tyrolean lutist Simon Gintzler (1490 - 1550), active at the court of the Prince-Bishops of Trento Cristoforo Ma- druzzo (1512-1578).
